Are you raising a curious, inquisitive child who seems to absorb information like a sponge? Do they have an insatiable thirst for knowledge, a vivid imagination, and a unique way of seeing the world? If so, you might be parenting a gifted child.

At Canterbury Explorers, we understand the joys and challenges that come with raising gifted children, including those who are twice-exceptional (2e). As the Canterbury branch of the New Zealand Association for Gifted Children, we provide a welcoming and supportive community where gifted children can connect, explore, and thrive.

Canterbury Explorers is run by a dedicated team of parent volunteers who are passionate about supporting gifted children and their families. We believe in fostering a nurturing environment where every child feels valued, understood, and challenged.

What We Offer

Engaging Activities: Our sessions are packed with hands-on activities, exciting experiments, and thought-provoking discussions, all designed to challenge and inspire young minds. Led by experienced educator Sue Breen, these sessions offer a unique blend of structured learning and free exploration.  Parents stay with their children for the duration of the session.

A Place to Connect: Canterbury Explorers is more than just an activity group; it's a community. Here, your child will meet other gifted children, forming friendships with like-minded peers. Parents and caregivers also benefit from the shared experiences and mutual support within our network.

Expert Guidance: Sue Breen, with over 45 years of experience in gifted education, brings a wealth of knowledge and passion to our sessions. She is a valuable resource for parents seeking advice and support on their child's gifted journey.

Community Support: We understand that raising a gifted child can be both rewarding and challenging. At Canterbury Explorers, you'll find a community of like-minded parents and caregivers who understand your journey. Share experiences, seek advice, and build lasting connections.

Join the Exploration

We warmly invite you and your child to join the Canterbury Explorers community. Our sessions take place every other Saturday from 12:30 to 3:30 pm during the school term. Come discover a world of learning, creativity, and connection!
